Off to See The Wizard

It’s that time of year again – time for the annual Center Stage Jackson musical production. This year: The Wizard of Oz.

Jaime stars as Aunt Em and Glinda, while my two girls are in the ensemble, playing Munchkins, flying monkeys, and jitterbugs.

Much like the last two years, I offered to take some behind-the-scenes photos of rehearsals. Those started in August, and we’ve been living in Oz ever since.

It’s a lot of long days and late nights, but our girls love the experience.

I don’t attend every rehearsal, but I stop by at least once a week to watch the production take shape.

I also pick up the girls a bit early to get them home and in bed so they can wake up for school the next day. But during the weeks leading up to the performance, those nights get later and later.

Eventually, the production makes its way to the big theater, where they practice entrances, music, and lighting. Soon, it’s full dress rehearsals and show run-throughs.

The show is now in full swing, and sells out each night. The Wizard of Oz is an American icon, of course, and great for the whole family.

Including ours.
