Good Morning, Chicago
Lou Mitchell’s – Chicago, Illinois
Good morning, Chicago.
Summer nights around the house – when the angle of sunlight turns the mundane into dramatic.
It’s enough to get lost in. Evenings like this, there’s entertainment in simply watching the light move, and shape, and shift.
Like some mythic, benevolent dictator, the sun shows its preferences in direct ways. A set of headphones here, the neighbors yard over there. You can’t question it. You just record it.
And hope the light shines on you.
Where you could sit on the edge of your bed
And you could stare into your own shoes
And in the pools of light there
Go wherever you choose

Here’s the problem: If you have the formula, everyone has the formula.
If you’re an artist, that means you’re no longer needed.
The solution is to either not be an artist, or do what you’ve been avoiding. Solve a creative problem.

It is wonderful how much may be done, if we are always doing.

Right. Now get out a make something.
After toying around with the mirrorless camera world, I got to appreciate the conveniences – what I call the throw-it-in-the-car effect. Mirrorless cameras like the Fuji X100 are light, small, and not prone to bang into things with a lens sticking out of the front.
Two years after purchase, I still love my Canon EOS M. I just had someone ask me about it on Flickr, and thought I’d share my review again.
It’s a great little camera as long as you accept its limitations.
