St. Mary’s Church

Lansing, Michigan

I’m not exactly a religious person, but I have a deep affection for churches – especially the big catholic churches. You feel like they’re there to impress you, and leave an impression.

St. Mary’s in downtown Lansing is no different. When we met up for the Kelby Photo Walk, I saw the church’s spire from a few blocks away, and knew that had to be one of my destinations during the photo walk.

And while I didn’t take a whole lot of photos in or around it, I took this last one just to remind me of how impressive it was.

Not Even Jail

Can’t you feel the warmth of my sincerity?

Interpol at the height of their powers, during the Antics era. “Not Even Jail” is one of those non-single songs that makes the album a joy to listen to from beginning to end.

And while I’m enjoying the new album, nothing beats the swagger and epic-ness of those early Interpol days. Think about the outro of “PDA” – those last few minutes are some of the most beautiful music made in the modern rock era.
