Migrating Home
A website is like a little piece of real estate on the website – a place for your digital life to have a home (complete with its own address!).
I’ve hosted a personal blog since 2008, and a photo blog almost as long. My blog has lived on a few platforms, like Blogspot and Tumblr, but for more than 10 years, it’s been on a self-hosted WordPress site.
With two exceptions: both my Artists In Jackson and Musicians In Jackson portrait projects have lived on Squarespace. Two years ago, I moved my Artists project to this WordPress site. Now, I’m working on moving my Musicians project over to this site as well.
Why? Because I’d like all of my photography-related material to live on the same piece of digital property for a few reasons:
- My blog gets all the benefit of the web traffic.
- I can easily add new entries to the series.
- Self-hosting costs far less than a $100-per-year Squarespace subscription.
So that’s what I’ll be doing this holiday season: moving the final portrait project over to this blog and hosting it here.
Look for an updated Musicians In Jackson project page, coming soon.
