Zombie Walk
Some days, you get up, dress like a zombie, and lurch around downtown Jackson for a while, attacking pedestrians and marveling at each other’s makeup.
Happy Halloween!

When people talk about how much they love autumn, this is probably what they mean: golden leaves, somber weather, a crispness in the air.
I think about fall as kind of a haunted season – and not just because of Halloween. It’s haunted because things are dying, the darkness is growing, and cold winds start blowing. Persephone is leaving, and the world mourns.
It’s tough to keep a camera away from this season. Plus, I have a thing about cemeteries. They’re especially gorgeous and appropriate in autumn.
I’m not exactly a religious person, but I have a deep affection for churches – especially the big catholic churches. You feel like they’re there to impress you, and leave an impression.
St. Mary’s in downtown Lansing is no different. When we met up for the Kelby Photo Walk, I saw the church’s spire from a few blocks away, and knew that had to be one of my destinations during the photo walk.
And while I didn’t take a whole lot of photos in or around it, I took this last one just to remind me of how impressive it was.
Much like improv, it’s when things go wrong that I feel like things really go right in photography. And that’s why I love grabbing these behind-the-scenes-type shots during photo sessions, like with Chris and Rebecca (and their dog Lacey) here.
Totally beautiful fall day, fun couple, and lots of adventure (like climbing trees!).
